Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer and dancer. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway roles, she played her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley, Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with actors and directors both on screen and stage for her entire career. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023. He stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The same team that created Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the leading the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the first impeachment proceeding in America over a Century. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
